Scheduled AI Reports the Team Actually Reads

The Monday update writes itself and holds up to scrutiny, ad-hoc questions get answered from live data instead of interrupting an analyst, and a person still reviews anything before it leaves the team.

Internal Operations Team
The story

What they were stuck on, and what we built

The problem

A team spent hours each week assembling performance updates and answering the same reporting questions: pulling data from several sources, working out what changed, and writing it up, again, every Monday.

What we did

We built a scheduled AI reporting workflow: data aggregated from the approved sources, filtered for relevance and recency, summarized by an AI step with strictly structured output, and delivered to the team's channel on schedule, with live questions answered through MCP against the same governed data. Failures degrade gracefully: a source outage or a malformed response produces an alert, never a silently wrong report.

How it was built

What we connected, automated and safeguarded

The complete system: the integrations behind it, the workflow it runs, and the controls that make it safe to rely on.

What we connected

  • The reporting warehouse
  • Google Sheets inputs
  • Slack & email delivery
  • MCP for live queries
  • Claude
  • Run monitoring

What we automated

  • Scheduled aggregation from approved sources
  • Relevance and recency filtering
  • AI summaries with structured, validated output
  • Delivery to Slack and email on schedule
  • Live Q&A over the same governed data

Reliability & controls

  • Structured outputs parsed and validated, never trusted blind
  • Source failures alert instead of fabricating
  • Human review before external sharing
  • Every query and answer logged

A representative build for this use case. Yours starts from your systems, your rules and your approval points.

The result

The Monday update writes itself and holds up to scrutiny, ad-hoc questions get answered from live data instead of interrupting an analyst, and a person still reviews anything before it leaves the team.

Weekly reporting became a review task, not an assembly job.

Answers on demand

Questions go to the assistant and come back grounded in live data.

Wrong beats silent

A failed source is an alert, never a confidently wrong number.
